Fluid DynamicsWith the increasing urgency of climate change and severe weather for society, there is need to provide rigorous fluid dynamics research which underpins this area of science. This group has close links with the Met Office in Exeter with Professor John Thuburn holding a Met Office joint chair. John Thuburn's research interests include developing novel numerical methods, and applying them to the Met Office weather and climate models. Dr Frank Kwasniok develops low-order models of climate flows. Dr Bob Beare models atmospheric boundary layer turbulence, and its role in dispersing pollutants.
