Climate Analysis Team
We've moved!!
In April 2007, the Climate Analysis Group set up at the University of Reading in October 1999 by Professor David B. Stephenson relocated to our new home in the Mathematics Research Institute at the University of Exeter. Click about us to learn more or contact us.
We believe that good statistical reasoning and modelling is essential for climate science. After all, climate is a statistical concept and many of the key issues hinge on careful interpretation and good inference. We are committed to continuing our world-recognised research in this area and in promoting better use of statistics in climate science.
Our areas of interest include:
- climate modes and regimes e.g. the North Atlantic Oscillation and the Asian Monsoon (see our Monsoon-On-Line site);
- extreme weather and climate events;
- forecasting - calibration, combination, and verification.
Professor David B. Stephenson is also one of the Editors for the Journal of Climate (Exeter office).
